Somerville's farmers markets don't all close in November. From now until the day before Thanksgiving, the city has two markets a week, at opposite ends of town on different days. The Somerville Winter Farmers Market opened its 2026–27 season on Saturday, Nov. 7, at Arts at the Armory on Highland Avenue. The outdoor Davis Square Farmers Market is still running on Wednesdays, and its season calendar goes through Nov. 25.
After that, the Armory runs the weekly market alone until mid-April.

| Sat., Dec. 5 | Somerville Winter Farmers Market | Arts at the Armory | 9:30 a.m.–1:30 p.m. |
| Sun., Dec. 6 | The Union Square Jingle | Union Square | Noon–5 p.m. |
The Davis Square market sets up in the municipal lot at 44 Day St., next to Davis Square Plaza. Its listing on The Boston Calendar gives noon to 6 p.m. and shows the market repeating weekly. The organizer, Mass Farmers Markets, lists four November Wednesdays this year: Nov. 4, 11, 18 and 25. The season started back on May 20. As of this week, two Wednesdays remain.
The Saturday after Thanksgiving has no market anywhere on this calendar. The winter market skips Nov. 28 and skips Dec. 26, the day after Christmas, too. So for Thanksgiving shopping, Saturday the 21st and Wednesday the 25th are the last two chances to buy from local farms.
Why the Armory Can Carry the Winter on Its Own
The winter season is long. It runs from Nov. 7, 2026, through April 17, 2027. That works out to 22 Saturday markets once the two skipped weekends come out. The Center for the Arts at the Armory, which hosts the market, describes it as a weekly market with more than 65 local food vendors. They sell produce, cheese, eggs, meat, fish, bread, tamales, pastries, chocolate and skincare products.
The 2026–27 vendor roster shows how much that covers.
- Produce and mushrooms: Amherst Mushroom Co., Brookford Farm, Freedom Food Farm, Heron Pond Farm, Kimball Fruit Farm, My County Mushrooms, Red Fire Farm, The Good Food Farm, Traveling Cap Mushroom Co., Underground Mushroom and Winter Moon Roots.
- Dairy, meat and fish: Creamira, Hickory Nut Farm, Lilac Hedge Farm, Round Table Farm, Stillman Quality Meats, Boston Smoked Fish Co. and Captain Marden's Seafood.
- Bread and sweets: Bread Obsession, Drive-by Pies, Hi-Rise Bread Co., Lucky Duck Sourdough, Mahalab Bakery, Mariposa Bakery, Myrtille Bakery, NAVAD Bakers and Tick Tock Chocolates.
- Prepared and specialty foods: Mei Mei Dumplings, Pinci Foods Lasagneria, Empanadas de la Abuela, Solstice Pasta & Provisions, Bangla Adda, Zaatar & Dips, Plum Island Jams and Rascal Relish.
- Drinks: Saltbox Cidershop, Blisspoint Meadery, 1634 Meadery, Luluna Kombucha, Cafes Duarte, Del's Coffee Roasters and Mocha Connection.
That list covers the whole season, and the vendor page says exact vendor dates will be posted there. If you're going for one stall, like a dozen Mei Mei dumplings or a loaf from Hi-Rise, check that page before you go.
Winter Moon Roots and the four separate mushroom growers explain why a winter produce market works. Storage roots and indoor-grown mushrooms fill the tables after the summer crops are done, and fish, meat, cheese and bread fill the rest.
Getting to Highland Avenue
Parking is very limited, according to the market, and it asks shoppers to take transit, walk or bike when they can.
Here are your options, from easiest to most stressful:
- Green Line. The Armory is near the Magoun Square stop.
- Bus. The 88 and 90 routes stop nearby.
- Bike. There's a rack along the side of the building.
- Free lot. There's a free lot directly behind the Armory.
- Overflow lot. There's a second lot at 75 Belmont St.
- Street parking. Highland Avenue has two-hour spaces.
The Armory's full address is 191 Highland Avenue, Suite 1-C, Somerville, MA 02143.
The market takes cash, card, check and SNAP/HIP. It also offers a $15 SNAP match every week. On the vendor page, a double asterisk marks vendors approved for HIP, and a plus sign marks vendors approved for the local SNAP match. The market's homepage also has a link for donating to the SNAP match.
After the Markets, the Calendar Shifts to Union Square
The farmers markets are on Highland Avenue and in Davis Square. Most of the other holiday events between now and early December are in or near Union Square.
Warehouse XI, Sunday, Nov. 22
The Boston Women's Holiday Market is at Warehouse XI, 11 Sanborn Ct., from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 22. It falls the day after the Armory's last pre-Thanksgiving Saturday and three days before Davis Square closes for the season. That makes it the one weekend this month with a farmers market on Saturday and a holiday market on Sunday.
The Union Square Jingle, Sunday, Dec. 6
Union Square Main Streets has set the Union Square Jingle for Sunday, Dec. 6, from noon to 5 p.m., with the tagline "Shop, Sip, and Mingle." This year's details will be posted on the organization's Jingle page. The day before, Dec. 5, is a regular market Saturday at the Armory.
A Farewell at Bow Market in December
At Bow Market, Saus is wrapping up. As WhatNow Boston reported, owners Tanya and Chin told customers the restaurant at 1 Bow Market Way #12 will close in December 2026. They described the move as "moving on to new goals" and plan a farewell party on the final day of service.
Saus started in 2008, when three university graduates lost their jobs in the recession. It opened its Bow Market location about ten years later, known for hand-cut fries along with salads, sandos and sodas. Its first location, at 33 Union Street in Boston, closed in 2024. In their announcement, the owners mentioned the collaborations they had with their Bow Market neighbors: a St. Patrick's Day project with Remnant, SoupFest with Buenas, and turns at the Vintage Market and FluffFest.
Bow Market still has more than 30 independent food, art and retail businesses, along with a brewery, a wine bar and an event space. Its tenants include Bakery Oma, Nagomi Bento, Việt Citron, Taquisimo, Side Quest Books & Games, Vinyl Index, Tiny Turns Paperie and Pop's Pinball Parlor. If you're shopping for the holidays in Union Square on Jingle day, it's an easy stop.
How the Week Changes After Thanksgiving
Until Nov. 25, Somerville has a Wednesday afternoon market on Day Street and a Saturday morning market on Highland Avenue. Starting Dec. 5, the Saturday market at the Armory is the only weekly one, and it runs every week except Dec. 26 until April 17, 2027. To get the market's alerts, sign up for the newsletter on its homepage. The Davis Square market sends updates by text if you text "DAVIS" to 833-409-0774.
We've been helping neighbors buy and sell in Somerville and the surrounding towns for more than 17 years, and the farmers market schedule is part of how we know these streets.
